Binance announced that Binance Futures updated leverage and margin tiers for select USDⓈ-M Perpetual Contracts on September 15, 2025. The changes, which affected existing positions, took about one hour per contract.
According to Binance’s official announcement, the update covers USDⓈ-M Perpetual Contracts such as HIVEUSDT, POWRUSDT, SIRENUSDT, BNTUSDT, SQDUSDT, SKYAIUSDT, and MYXUSDT. Existing positions opened before the update will be affected, meaning traders may need to adjust their leverage or margin usage to avoid unexpected risks or liquidations. Binance also warned that "futures running grid" strategies might expire because of the changes, advising users to take action before the changes go live.
One concrete change in the update for the HIVEUSDT, POWRUSDT, SIRENUSDT, BNTUSDT, SQDUSDT, and SKYAIUSDT contracts is that positions up to 5,000 USDT notional previously had 26-50x leverage with a maintenance margin rate of 1.50%; after the change, those same positions will have 21-50x leverage but maintain the 1.50% maintenance margin rate. For the tier below (5,000 < Position ≤ 10,000 USDT), the previous leverage band of 21-25x becomes NA, meaning that tier is removed — and adjacent tiers shift accordingly. Larger positions (for example, those in the 10,000-25,000 USDT window) see their leverage band adjusted from 11-20x to still 11-20x but covering a narrower notional range (earlier it was 10,000-25,000; now it's 5,000-10,000 for that band) with the same maintenance margin rate.
