Charlie Bilello, Chief Market Strategist for Creative Planning | X

Charlie Bilello, Chief Market Strategist at Creative Planning, has expressed concerns over the implications of debt and easy money policies. According to Bilello, these measures ultimately lead to currency debasement and asset price inflation. His statement was made on the social media platform X.

"Remember, it's all the same trade," said Bilello. "More Debt ---> Easy Money (Inflate Your Way Out) ---> Currency Debasement ---> Asset Price Inflation."

In 2025, U.S. debt surpassed $37 trillion, raising fears of "fiscal dominance." Reuters reports that with a debt-to-GDP ratio exceeding 120%, there are growing concerns that political pressure to reduce borrowing costs could undermine the Federal Reserve's independence. This situation may weaken the Fed’s credibility in fighting inflation while increasing risks in Treasury markets.

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Cleveland Federal Reserve's Inflation Nowcasting, inflation in the U.S. measured 2.7% year-over-year in July 2025 and rose slightly to 2.84% in August 2025, with a monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase of 0.3%. These figures indicate moderate but persistent price pressures despite elevated government borrowing and market volatility.

Periods of weakness in the U.S. Dollar Index have historically boosted asset prices, with gold, equities, and Bitcoin showing inverse correlations to dollar declines. S&P Global and MarketIndex note that crypto valuations often rise when the dollar falls, while gold and base metals also benefit from dollar weakness, making it a key driver of alternative asset rallies.

Bilello is known for his role at Creative Planning where he produces research such as "The Week in Charts" and co-hosts the "Signal or Noise?" podcast. According to Creative Planning, he has a background in global investing and award-winning analysis, specializing in making complex market data accessible for investors.
