The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) has announced its recognition by the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA) for its innovative approach to digital asset regulation. The announcement was made in a news release on January 16, 2025.

According to the AMF, as part of its "Impact 2027" strategy, it focuses on addressing innovation challenges and maintaining investor security while collaborating with ecosystem stakeholders. INATBA has acknowledged the AMF’s approach to digital asset regulation. Since the 2019 Pacte Law, the AMF has registered over 100 digital asset service providers and issued four licenses. The Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation establishes a framework for crypto-asset service providers across the European Union.

The AMF has blacklisted the digital asset trading platform BYBIT since May 20, 2022, due to non-compliance with French regulations. BYBIT is not registered as a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP), which is a mandatory requirement under the Monetary and Financial Code for platforms offering digital asset services in France.

Binance France SAS and Coinbase have both been approved by the AMF to operate in France. Binance France received registration as a DASP under registration number E2022-037, allowing the company to provide services such as digital asset custody, exchanges between digital assets and legal tender, and operation of a trading platform for digital assets.

The AMF is an independent public authority in France that oversees financial markets, market participants, and investment products. It ensures that investors are informed and that markets operate orderly. The AMF also engages in regulatory development at European and international levels, focusing on areas such as sustainable finance and the impact of digital changes on the economy. It functions through two main bodies: the board and the enforcement committee, working toward establishing consistent international standards in financial markets.
