Raoul Pal, co-founder and CEO of Real Vision, said he presented cryptocurrency as a medium-term savings vehicle, while viewing NFTs as a long-term allocation supported by ongoing income generation.
“my medium term saving and investment plan (next 5 to 10 years) is crypto,” said Pal. “my long term investment plan is overpriced jpegs. both are simple buy and hold. in the mean time i try to earn income to feed both addictions.”
According to Pal’s X post, which shares his investment outlook on digital assets in a TED Talk-style format, he positions cryptocurrency for the next several years and NFTs for extended periods with a straightforward holding strategy. He emphasizes the need for income to sustain additions to both asset classes.
The Cayman Islands provides a favorable regulatory environment for cryptocurrency through the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, which governs exchanges and custodians. This framework attracts international funds and platforms due to its tax advantages and operational efficiency in blockchain activities. Local industry groups support networking and development to expand the sector’s presence in the region.
Global cryptocurrency users now exceed 560 million, with ownership rates at 6.8 percent across populations as adoption accelerates in retail segments. Leading nations include India at 29 percent and the United States at 13 percent, where transactions reflect broader financial integration. This growth highlights digital assets’ role in diversification strategies worldwide.
Pal graduated from the University of Plymouth with a degree in economics and law before joining Goldman Sachs in European equities and derivatives. He managed the GLG Global Macro Fund until 2011 and then co-founded Real Vision to deliver market insights through video content. He also established Global Macro Investor as a research service focusing on macroeconomic trends and cryptocurrency.
