Minister Delegate for the Tourism Economy Marina Ferrari said she is passing the digital technology ministry to Clara Chappaz with “confidence and joy,” highlighting her “talent” and contributions to La French Tech. Ferrari made her statement in a Sep. 23 post on X.
“Dear @ClaraChappaz, I wish you the best in serving French digital technology: I am passing on to you, in confidence and with sincere joy, this wonderful ministry, now under the supervision of @patrickhetzel,” said Ferrari. “Your perfect knowledge of the issues, your talent, your dynamism but also the extra soul that you have been able to bring to @LaFrenchTech are all assets to reinforce the exceptional attractiveness of French digital technology and its leading position in the field of artificial intelligence in continental Europe. Long live French Tech and long live French Digital!”
According to Euro News, France has appointed its first AI minister, Chappaz, in a government reshuffle aimed at positioning the country as a global leader in artificial intelligence. Chappaz, formerly CEO of La French Tech, will now serve as Secretary of State for AI and Digitalisation.
La French Tech is a government initiative designed to support and grow the French start-up ecosystem across various regions. It operates through a national team and an international network of over 1,400 volunteers in 52 countries, with more than 25 staff members working under the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.
Ferrari is the Minister Delegate for the Tourism Economy, appointed in September 2024. She previously served as Secretary of State for Digital Affairs and was a deputy for Savoie, working on finance and economic committees. Ferrari has been a municipal councilor in Aix-les-Bains since 2008 and held leadership roles in higher education and energy. She has a background in international relations and defense, according to the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry.
