Rodrigo Coelho, CEO of Edge & Node, discussed the company’s strategic direction during DevConnect in Buenos Aires. Coelho, who was the first hire at The Graph and played a crucial role in its development, became CEO of Edge & Node in 2025. He now leads the company’s vision and strategy as it shifts towards enterprise-grade data solutions.

Edge & Node is focusing on connecting open-source decentralized protocols with institutional needs. The launch of new products like Amp aims to create a verifiable data infrastructure that supports both traditional finance and autonomous AI agents. “We have been managing data infrastructure for seven or eight years and have gained a lot of knowledge,” Coelho said.

Reflecting on his career, Coelho noted the importance of early experiences at The Graph: “It was invaluable… Being on the employee side gave me a fresh perspective.” He emphasized that his history with the company has helped him in his leadership role.

Coelho shared insights from his past ventures: “There’s that saying about startups: they’re like chewing glass and staring into the abyss.” He highlighted the challenges startups face, such as product fit and execution, which are crucial for success.

Edge & Node is pursuing SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications to align decentralized systems with enterprise security frameworks. “Compliance is a costly process that takes months and significant resources,” Coelho explained. The integration of verifiable data into Amp ensures organizations can demonstrate their data aligns with blockchain records.

The company remains committed to open-source principles while catering to enterprise needs. Coelho compared their model to Red Hat’s: “We offer support and services on top of open-source software.” This approach allows them to generate revenue while sustaining operations.

Discussing verifiable data for intelligent agents, Coelho said, “Trust becomes crucial… Verifiability matters whether the action is automated or semi-automated.”

The House of Web3 serves as a community hub supporting Edge & Node’s mission by fostering interactions among builders, researchers, and artists. Coelho believes physical spaces promote spontaneous connections essential for innovation.

Looking ahead, Coelho sees opportunities in the enterprise sector as more institutions adopt blockchain technology. At events like SmartCon, major banks show interest in transferring financial transactions onto blockchain platforms due to faster settlement times and transparency.

Coelho foresees continued balance between open-source innovation and commercial sustainability through models like Amp that operate both on-premises and in cloud environments using The Graph Network.

He also expressed interest in privacy developments and protocols distributing fees back to users: “I’m very eager to see that space grow.”
